"Remember" by Joy Harjo

I really enjoyed reading "Remember" by Joy Harjo. The poem relies on anaphora, or repetition. Joy Harjo uses the word “remember” fifteen times in the poem. I think she does this to stress the importance of remembering who you are and where you came from. She wants you to remember your culture and your beliefs.

  1. "Remember" by Joy Harjo is a great poem and I agree. Her use of structure and imagery to catch readers' attention is amazingly nice. I also like it more when we heard the audio in class. It made the poem more real and shows us what the rhythm is. Overall, I enjoy reading all her poems we have read so far in class and her works are very, very unique.

  2. I agree too. "Remember" was a beautifully written poem and one of the best readings from the whole class. The structure and imagery were without a doubt some of the best in the reader. I enjoy this poem, and I hope to read more work from Harjo one day.
